Seven varieties selected for commercial trials.

Umame is currently conducting commercial trials on seven gourmet mushroom varieties. The exotic mushroom varieties selected for commercial trials are:

  1. Shiitake (Lentinula Edodes)
  2. Enoki (Flammulina velutipes)
  3. Buna Shemejii (Brown)(Hypsizygus tessulatus)
  4. Buna Shemejii (White)(Hypsizygus tessulatus)
  5. Winter Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus)
  6. King Oyster (Pleurotus eryngii)
  7. Yellow Oyster (Pleurotus cornucopiae)

The commercial trials will primarily be conducted on on the highly productive UM3 substrate but will also be extended to include cultivation trials on two new substrates - a revamped UM4 and a brand new UM5 high nitrogen formulation. We expect to start harvesting these new varieties as from the second week in June 2010. We will continue to post updates on this commercial trial in the coming weeks.
